Who is the Most Manly Man?

If you watch any television you have probably seen an Old Spice commercial, asking the ladies how they want their man to smell and be. Recently the Actor has been changed to Fabio. A comical "Mano a Mano in El Bano" battle has ensued on YouTube between the "Old" Old Spice Guy and Fabio, the New Old Spice Guy. Very entertaining with me personally thinking that the Old Old Spice Guy has gotten the upper hand.   My Favorite Video

This has raised the question, who is really the most manly? And to expand on the potential "Most Manly" candidates, here are a few others for consideration. In no particular order we have:

The Old Old Spice Guy (Isaiah Mustafa) - The Man your Man Could Smell Like (On a Horse!)
Fabio - An International Sex Symbol
Chuck Norris - Bescause he's freakin Chuck Norris
The Most Interesting Man in the World - He doesn't always drink beer, but when he does he drinks Dos Equis

I have to give the upper hand out of these four gentlemen to "The Most Interesting Man in the World".
  • Old Old Spice Guy, is close contender.
  • Fabio, I think the long hair sexiness for men is out (But what do I know, I am a man).
  • Chuck Norris, this is not a who would when in a fight, but overall Manliness and Chuck (we love you), but the Total Gym infomercials really take away from the manliness factor.
  • The Most Interesting Man in the World, ... he has a wallet made out of Chupacabra Leather (How do you top that?).
But we will let You decide!

Political Stalemate Over the Nations Debt Limit

As the deadline for the Nation to run out of money looms on August 2, our so called politicians in Washington are at a stalemate. President Obama vs. the Republicans, seem to be at a standoff on who will give in first. While the citizens of the U.S. and the rest of the world are sitting here twirling our thumbs getting more anxious by the minute.

At times I get the feeling that these people, our elected politicians, do not care if they drive the country into the ground or not. On the other hand I have no doubt my mind that they truly care about the fate of the nation and the implications that their decisions will have on us. But they need to stop caring which political party wins, come to a compromise and do what is best so that the United States as a whole, wins.

President Obama addressed the nation on Monday, July 25th; after watching it, I was in total agreement with the comments he made. Shaking my head to myself and thinking, that is how we need to proceed, even though it did seem to be a "blame the Republicans" speech. He even told Americans to call their representatives and voice their opinions to them. I will definitely agree that President Obama is a great public speaker. After the presidential address, Speaker of the House John Boehner made his rebuttal on behalf of the Republicans. He made a valiant counter argument and after his speech I was in agreement with him as well; but was not in total agreement with either ones views on how we should proceed forward as a nation. Someone made an impression, later that night CNN was reporting that the congressional website was crashing/bogging down from all the visitors to the site.

There are numerous, so called "experts" claiming that Obama's plan will not succeed and others claiming that the Republicans plan will not succeed. Based on the what was said during the speeches made, and taking into account what these so called experts are saying, I am under the strong belief that the only plan that will work is a mix of both. Both plans have valid points and both plans should be able to be brought together in a compromise between the two. Would both parties be able to work it out before the deadline on August 2nd? For our sake, lets hope so.

Another vote on the proposed bills is scheduled for Thursday, July 28. Lets hope they get it right.

Is Google Plus the Death of Facebook?

Does Google's new social network called Google Plus spell the end for Facebook? Is Facebook on its last leg much as MySpace is, which recently sold for $35 million. $35 million? Well that is a good chunk of change you might say, but not when you consider that MySpace sold for $580 million in 2005. I guess everyone knows these social media sites loose value as soon as you drive them off the lot.

As far as Google Plus putting Facebook to rest, I do not personally think so, but it will more than likely give it a good run for the money.

I have not had the pleasure of testing out Google Plus yet, it is still in its testing phase with a limited number of test participants. But as soon as it goes live, I imagine a good influx of eager people will join, thought they will not give up on their Facebook just yet. Since majority of Facebook users already have nice sized friend list and understand the ins and out of the website it will be hard to let go of.

Google Plus will be the shiny new website on the block sporting some very nice and useful additions. Such additions such as Circles, Sparks, and Hangouts. Circles being a feature when you add a friend you drop them in a particular Circle, such as Family, Friends, Co-workers and more. Then you have the option of allowing only certain Circles to view certain post and photos. For example my co-workers do not necessarily need to see my family vacation photos but I want my family and friends to see them so I tag them for my family and friends circles, or vice verse I want to post to my co-workers but it does not concern my family and friends so I only allow my co-workers circle to see it. Other features such as Sparks allow me to gather information about topics I am interested in and then at my leisure I can view them. Or Hangouts allow me to make a virtual room where I can invite other friends or groups of friends to come in an share videos or chat live in real time with me.

The features of Google Plus will make for a new way to spend out social networking time, they may not replace Facebook for all of us, but some will change and never look back. As well time may tell as Facebook could develop their own similar features.

Innocent Until Proven Guilty

Innocent Until Proven Guilty, seems like this is a phrase that might need to be revisited in light of the current Casey Anthony murder trial. If you are not familiar with the trial, (because you were living under a rock), Casey Anthony was accused of murdering her 2 year old daughter Caylee, then disposing of her body in the woods.

(Spoiler Alert), she was then found innocent of the charges of first degree murder and other felony charges. This for some reason has America in an uproar, resulting in not only Casey Anthony receiving death threats and harassment but also her parents who testified on her behalf and the jury that found her "not guilty".

The jury! These people were doing their civic duty, and had their lives disrupted for the entire 6 week trail. Not one other person was given the burden of responsibility, or heard every portion of the case and had to make the decision that they were forced to make. Yet, millions of people are angry and outraged; some who would take it so far as to blame, threaten, and possibly hurt the people that were appointed for no other reason other than a computer sent them a jury summons, and they actually showed up.

Honesty, I do not care one little bit whether she did it or not, or is innocent or guilty. This case has no effect on my life, my existence as a person or my happiness. And, unless you actually knew Caylee, it shouldn't have any affect on you other than being an intriguing current event. If you are angry and judgmental about this case, and you consider yourself a religious person (any religion), you need to contemplate your faith, except the fact that your god will judge her if she did it and let it go.

If the evidence in this case was proof positive that she did it, then she would have been found guilty. It did not and we all have the benefit of the presumption of innocence, that is our right, that is her right, and you have No right to take that from her. If you were on trial for a crime you would have that right, so do not try to take it from her. Innocent until proven guilty ... proven guilty. ct

Political Parties Gone Bad

The issue I find most disturbing, in regards to political parties, is that neither of the main parties are truly representing me. This is a crime against the system. The politicians that I vote for are not "representing" me. How can they? They have not asking me or anyone else in their district or state of how we want them to vote on the legislation they are imposing on us. They were elected to be our voice in Washington, not their own voice, not their political parties voice, OUR voice; mine and yours!

The system has failed us as a nation, we are forced to pick a side, Republican or Democrat, and then sit idly aside as they vote how they see fit. Sure, we can vote for an independent candidate, or we can write them till until we run our of paper. But what good does that do? The independents don't win, and who is to say they are heeding or even reading our correspondence.

When we watch news coverage of congressional sessions, we should not be seeing how many of each political party voted for or against a topic. Those individual congressmen should not be standing up in front of each other trying to persuade the entire group one way or the other, they should not even confer with each other on the topics at hand, they should be conferring with their constitutes (You and Me), about how we want them to vote.

Just for an example, I will list some of the big ticket topics that I can think of off the top of my head and how I feel about them. After looking at my views how do you think I should vote, Democrat or Republican?

Pro-Military
Pro-Choice
Pro-Gay Rights and Marriage
Pro-Stem Cell Research
Pro-Capitalism
Anti Taxes
Anti Gun Control
Pro-States Rights
Pro-Death Penalty
Pro-Immigration Reform
Pro-Environment (but I do NOT believe in global warming)
Pro-Legalized Marijuana (I personally don't use it, but believe it should be controlled and strictly sold by the government to bring a revenue into the government so they can lower our taxes, but that is a topic for another day)

Now, after seeing what I am for and against, you can see that I do not fit into one particular party profile, yet I am forced to choose my most important topics and then vote for the party that supports my view point in that area. Even though more or my topics are supported by the other party. These political parties that we have in place are not One Size Fits All.

This is not right, it is an injustice to us all and needs to be rectified. Abolishing the party system would be a good start, let the politicians focus on what we, their constitutes want, not the party.  ct
